The Buxin master plan is an international competition-winning scheme to reshape one of Shenzhen’s key districts. The scheme won the competition due to its avant-garde approach to creating a human-scale high-rise development.
- Client: MSUN Group
- Location: Shenzhen, China
- Type: Master plan, Mixed-Use
- Area: 1.2 million m2
The 1.1-million-square-meter project aims to introduce a new mixed-use high-rise development to address Shenzhen’s significant demand for high-end exclusive communities. The project offers a diverse mix of offices, residential spaces, retail areas, and two 5-star hotels.
The winning scheme by tkdp introduces a revolutionary method of creating a human-scale city that can offer exclusive facilities for users without compromising the urban lifestyle of adjacent neighborhoods.
The project’s vision was based on creating a series of layers (a horizontal city) in the form of bridges, platforms, and podiums that host key communal anchors serving the development. The horizontal city provides a human-centric experience and allows seamless mobility for people passing by from the adjacent neighborhoods. It forms the base for the 16 high-rise towers spread over the entire plot.
